First live worldwide streaming of a heart surgery from Bernau near Berlin…

|   Air filter technology

... directly from a hybrid operating theatre equipped by Marchhart.

Many operating theatres have already been equipped using Marchhart air filtering technology. It is however something special when heart surgery involving a sutureless aorta valve replacement with minimally invasive procedure is being live streamed worldwide. This live streaming was the actual reason why the time between the initial consultation and the commissioning of this operating theatre at the Immanuel Klinikum Bernau heart centre Brandenburg was only around four months. An absolute challenge faced by all involved companies.

This fourth heart catheterisation measuring station/hybrid operating theatre was constructed while hospital operations continued; we installed a LAF supply air ceiling in the H1a class room and two recirculated air wall modules to supply sufficient volumes of fresh air. Another challenge we faced was that the planned LAF supply air ceiling had to pass the protection level testing pursuant to DIN “WITHOUT a flow apron” for both internal and external load factor. With an intelligently aligned and calculated differential flow we achieved values of 5.0 for both internal and external loading.

Everything was completed on schedule so that the planed “first surgeries on Saturday 8th of November 2014” as a part of the 22nd day of the heart centre were available worldwide on the internet as live streaming from the 4th catheterisation measuring station. The hybrid operating theatre at the Immanuel Klinikum Bernau hospital is currently the most modern hybrid operating theatre in Germany.
